For Sunday services our dual-purpose hall is transformed into a modern church setting
The chancel area before the high altar also provides a quiet area for weekday services, private prayer and reflection...
Welcome from Father John
My name is John Kershaw, the vicar of St Hilda's, Audenshaw
and I have been in this post since 1989. My parishioners know
me as Fr. John. I was trained at the College of the Resurrection,
Mirfield and served my title to Priesthood at St Margaret's,
Hollinwood under Fr. Alec George (RIP).
As you might expect, the style of worship at St Hilda's is
Anglo-Catholic and the Church is also designated as an
A+B parish and a member of F.I.F. (Forward in Faith). Despite
the non-smoking ban imposed in July '07, we still use incense regularly in our Family Eucharist on Sunday.
Although the family of the church at St Hilda's is small, those who attend on a regular basis are faithful, dedicated and welcoming.
Should you wish to discuss Baptisms, Weddings or any other matter, I am available after services and on Wednesday evenings between 7:00 and 9:30pm. The vicarage is in the grounds of the Church and should you wish to make an appointment, please ring 0161 336 2310.
I look forward to welcoming you to St Hilda's!
Best wishes,
Fr. John

Mrs. Olive Hanson
St. Hilda's mourns the loss of a dear friend and
faithful servant of the Lord...
Olive served quietly and devotedly since her
confirmation some thirty years ago. Her efforts
in managing our candle stock and her cleaning
of brasses will be sadly missed. A woman of few
words, who wielded a wise and ready wit which
could often take one by surprise!
Life became difficult for Olive over the past few years and she still missed her husband, Alan, who died five years ago. Showing great courage, Olive continued in her determined manner to retain her independence right up to the end. Olive passed from this life after a short period in hospital, made necessary by a stroke suffered in her own home.
Olive's cremated remains were interred beside those of her husband Alan in the Memorial Garden at St. Hilda's on Sunday, 11th October, 2009.
May both Olive and Alan rest in peace and rise in glory.
